Drywood Termites Treatment Sydney

Get Expert Drywood Termite Treatment in Your House with Iconic Pest Solutions in Sydney

Drywood termites are a serious threat to homes and businesses across Sydney, often causing significant damage before their presence is even detected. Unlike subterranean termites, which require contact with soil, drywood termites do not require contact with moisture sources, allowing them to infest timber structures, wooden furniture, and flooring undetected. Without proper treatment, a drywood termite infestation can weaken structural integrity, leading to costly repairs. At Iconic Pest Solutions, we provide comprehensive termite control solutions, using advanced detection equipment and effective treatments to eliminate infestations and prevent future termite problems.

Identification & Detection of Drywood Termites

Acoustic Detection

Drywood termites in Australia are active feeders, and they keep on feeding the cellulose, leaving behind hollowed tunnels and frass piles. Our specialists use acoustic sensors to capture the subtle clicking and rustling sounds produced as they feed inside wooden structures.

Moisture Meters

Even though drywood termites do not need direct moisture sources, their activity causes fluctuations in moisture content within the infested wood. We use moisture meters to detect abnormal levels, helping pinpoint infestations hidden inside walls, timber, or flooring.

Borescope Inspection

A borescope inspection involves inserting a small camera probe into tiny holes in infested timber, allowing us to visually identify termites, frass piles, and tunnel structures without damaging your property.

Visual inspections

We also conduct detailed visual inspections, looking for termite droppings, frass piles, dead wood, termite wings, and small colonies forming within wooden structures.

Where Do These Drywood Termites Live?

Timber Framing

The timber frame is one of the most common breeding grounds for dry wood termites. These termites tunnel deep into the wood and gradually destroy load-bearing structures — compromising the integrity of walls, ceilings, and floors.

Wooden Furniture & Flooring

Drywood termites frequently infest wooden structures, including cabinets, chairs, and wardrobes. They hollow out the inside of wooden pieces while preserving their outer surface, so damage can be hard to identify until it reaches a critical level.

Exterior Wood Trim & Siding

The wooden features of a building, including window frames, door trims, decks, and siding, are inviting targets of these termites. They are subject to changing temperatures and weather conditions, so cracks and crevices may form over time, providing termites to invade and form colonies.

Suspect Termites in Your Home

If you’ve seen little piles of termite droppings (drywood termite frass), hollow-sounding timber, or termite wings lying around windows and doors, you might have a drywood termite infestation. They can cause widespread destruction to structures before the homeowner has the chance to visually spot the infestation.

Unlike subterranean termite species which are dampwood termites, drywood termites don’t need moisture from the soil to survive. If left untreated, these pests can do significant damage to the structural integrity of your home or business, resulting in costly repairs and safety risks.

At Iconic Pest Solutions, we provide professional inspections and individualised treatment plans to eliminate drywood termites quickly and effectively. Using state-of-the-art detection techniques—from thermal imaging to acoustic sensors—our team accurately identifies infestations in a way that was never before possible. We have same-day inspections and fast treatment options like fumigation, heat treatments, and termiticides to eliminate all of them.

Lifecycle of Drywood Termites

Egg Stage

The first stage of the termite lifecycle is the egg stage. Once she has mated, the queen lays eggs deep in the infested timber. They’re small, oval-shaped, and hard to see since they are generally hidden within wooden materials.

Nymphs

Nymphs undergo several moulting stages, gradually developing into destructive termites, soldier termites, or reproductive termites (king and queen). Workers feed the colony and create tunnels, while soldier termites protect the nest with their large mandibles.

Mature Termites

As nymphs develop, they assume different roles in the colony: workers, soldiers, or reproductive termites (the king and queen). Workers feed other termites and build the nest by tunnelling through the wood. Soldiers termites grow large mandibles to protect the colony from predators and ants. The future alates, or the winged reproductives (the king and queen) eventually exit the colony to create a new colony continuing the cycle of infestation.

Colony Growth

The termite colony may take years to fully develop. Growth of small colonies is gradual at early stages, but as the numbers of reproductive termites multiply, the size and damaging power of the colony grow as well. If left untreated, these small colonies alone can cause serious structural damage.

Eliminate Termites With Iconic Pest Solutions

Fumigation

Fumigation is one of the most effective ways to remove these termites. A specialised type of active ingredient is injected into the infested wood, eliminating termites, eggs, and small colonies.

Heat Treatment

It is a chemical-free spot treatment. This process works by increasing the heat in the part of the building (that has termites) to a temperature that kills them.

Termiticide Treatments

This treatment can be used by directly injecting into affected wood or by spreading it on the ground to prevent termites from entering treated areas.

Baiting Systems

We install bait stations throughout your property to attract termites to feed on it. The entire population of a termite colony gets eliminated over time as the bait is taken back to the colony.
